Hello and Welcome to Jessy’s Kitchen:
If you are unfamiliar with jessyskitchen, allow me to take a moment to introduce you to this site. The first thing you should know is that jessyskitchen is a cooking blog or a personal website, created and maintained by me, Jessy Mathew. Unlike most of the large recipe sites that you might find on the Internet with tens of thousands of recipes, jessyskitchen is my personal website, with only a few hundred recipes, tested and tasted by me, my family or my friends. We invite you to try the recipes, share your favorite recipes and if you would like, leave constructive feedback in the comments.

About Jessy
I am from the southern state of India called Kerala. Kerala also referred to as ‘Gods own Country’ is well known for its natural beauty, backwaters and wide range of food and spices. I currently stay with my family in Johannesburg, South Africa.

My Interest in cooking
My introduction to cooking was through my parenets and family magazines in my native state (Vanitha, Grahalakshmi etc.), these magazines carried many mouthwatering recipes. My parents would try some of these recipes on weekend and I am pretty sure that these experiences have played a major role in sprouting a passion for cooking.

I discovered that I had a talent for cooking after my marriage. During large family parties my family would prefer my cooking rather than outsourcing it to a catering company or a restaurant. It was hard work but the appreciation from my near and dear ones gave me a lot of satisfaction and a sense of achievement.

I have also invested a lot of time watching cookery shows on TV, reading books on cooking, and actively blogging on food blogs to develop my skills and experiment with new cuisines.

In spite of all the knowledge I had gathered I was afraid to bake, however, this was until my daughter persuaded me to start baking cake and now I am convinced that baking is no rocket science.

I have been influenced by so many bloggers and I thought it was about time that I give back to the blogging family a few things that I had picked up over time and thus jessyskitchen.com was born. It’s with great pride that I bring to you some of the successful recipes that I have tried and tested myself.

You will see on this website that most of the ingredients I have used are simple and easily available in the market. You must have also noticed the I used the words ‘successful recipes’, this was because some of my experiments have not been as successful as the others. There were times when I had to throw away a whole dish because it was burned, too salty or too spicy. However, I have managed to learn from these experiences and I have made available to you certain tips and tricks that I use in the ‘Useful Tips’ section of this site.

You may possibly find a lot of Keralaite food on my website as this is staple home food. My husband and daughter are meat lovers and prefer non vegetarian for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will therefore see plenty of non-vegetarian recipes on my site.

This website is a stress buster and helps me wind down and relax after a full day at office. I have made a beginning and I am excited to see the website evolve.
